Get Your Ducts in a Row

5/25/2018 (Permalink)

You can remove a vent cover to get a better look at your air duct system.

Duct cleaning is a pretty big undertaking, so it is best left to a professional cleaning service. Fortunately, it can be pretty easy to tell if they need to be cleaned. Removing the vent covers allows for a look inside the duct system to see if there is any debris circulating through the air you’re breathing. Air filters should also be inspected for dust particles. Both of these checks can give you some insight as to whether it is time to call a professional duct cleaner. You can also check the condition of your heater. The heat exchanger surface works best if sufficiently cleaned.

With summer right around the corner, now would be a great time to take a look at your air conditioner. The coils inside the A.C. should be free from dust. Projecting light onto the cooling coil to see if it comes out the other end will help. The fins of the coil should be evenly spaced and free of damage. If any of these parts seem slow or dirty, please give us a call before it gets even hotter. If the A.C. unit is giving you issues, don’t sweat it, just give us a call and we will be there.

Here is a quick rundown of the work that goes into cleaning your ventilation system, and making sure it running at peak performance:

The first step would be to clean, or if needed, replace your air conditioning filter to ensure the ducts do not lose efficiency as a result of the restricted airflow that comes from debris. Dirty ducts or filters can contaminate the air you breathe!

After resolving any issues with the filter, we begin work on the condenser coils. A clean condenser coil can ensure your unit is maximizing the power received; which will save you money on your electrical bill. Your SERVPRO of Medford professional will then check the coolant lines so you get the coldest air possible.

Lastly, we check the AC by turning the unit on. With the system running, we are can ensure the unit is in great working shape and the cleaning is complete. If more work is required, like replacing a broken part, SERVPRO of Medford can quickly complete any of the additional steps that may need to be taken.
